Indian boxers Minakshi (48kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) and Nupur (80kg) stormed into the finals of the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool with commanding wins in their respective semifinals. Minakshi outclassed Mongolia’s Altantsetseg Lutsaikhan 5:0, Jaismine blanked Venezuela’s Omailyn Carolina Alcala Cegovia 5:0, while Nupur overpowered Turkey’s Seyma Duztas to raise hopes of multiple gold medals for India.
India has sent a 20-member squad to the inaugural Championships under the newly formed World Boxing governing body. Pooja Rani also made the semifinals in the 80kg category and will face England’s Emily Asquith for a place in the final.
In the summit clashes on Saturday night, Jaismine will take on Paris Olympic silver medallist Julia Szeremeta of Poland, while Nupur will face Polish star Agata Kaczmarska. Minakshi, meanwhile, continued her superb form, dominating all three rounds against her Mongolian rival to enter the final with confidence.
