Two-time World Cup winner Lisa Keightley appointed Head Coach of Mumbai Indians Women

Mumbai, 25 September, 2025: Mumbai Indians have announced the appointment of former Australia cricketer and two-time World Cup champion Lisa Keightley as the new Head Coach of their women’s team. Keightley, a member of Australia’s title-winning squads in 1997 and 2005, is regarded as one of the most respected coaches in women’s cricket.

Mumbai Indians Women, the most successful team in WPL history with titles in 2023 and 2025, believe Keightley’s vast international and franchise coaching experience will add further strength. She has previously coached Australia and England — becoming the first woman to hold the England head coach role full-time — and also achieved success in global leagues including the WBBL, The Hundred, and the WPL. Just last month, she guided Northern Superchargers to The Hundred women’s title.

Mrs. Nita M. Ambani, welcoming Keightley, said, “A trailblazer in women’s cricket, Lisa has inspired generations with her passion and expertise. Her arrival marks an exciting new chapter as we look to build on our legacy of excellence.”

On her appointment, Keightley said, “It’s an honour to join Mumbai Indians, a team that has set the benchmark in the WPL. I deeply admire their culture of excellence and care, and I look forward to working with this talented group to continue inspiring on and off the field.” A stylish former opener, Keightley represented Australia in 9 Tests, 82 ODIs, and 1 T20I.
