In Sharjah, Nepal created history by defeating West Indies by 19 runs, registering their first-ever win against a Full Member nation. This was also the start of their maiden bilateral series against the Caribbean side, and Nepal marked it with a memorable triumph.
Batting first, Nepal posted 148 for 8 in 20 overs. Captain Rohit Paudel led from the front with 38 runs, while Kushal Malla added a crucial 30. For West Indies, Jason Holder impressed with 4 wickets for 20 runs, and debutant Navin Bidaisee picked up 3 wickets.
In reply, West Indies struggled from the beginning. Kyle Mayers was run out by Kushal Bhurtel’s direct hit, and Nepal’s spinners tightened their grip in the middle overs. Despite some resistance, West Indies could only manage 129 for 9 in 20 overs.
This win not only gave Nepal a 1–0 lead in the series but also a historic milestone in their cricketing journey. With six bowlers taking at least one wicket each and important contributions from the batters, it was truly a complete team performance for Nepal.
