India Recommended to Host 2030 Commonwealth Games

India is set to host the 24th edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030, with Ahmedabad being recommended as the proposed host city. The decision was announced by the Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport on October 15, 2025.

This event will be historic, marking 100 years since the Commonwealth Games began in Ontario. If approved, it will be India’s second time hosting the Games — the first was in Commonwealth Games 2010 held in New Delhi.

The recommendation will now be presented to the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow on November 26, 2025, where the final decision will be taken.

Hosting the Games is expected to boost India’s sports infrastructure, tourism, and international sporting reputation.

Mrs Nita M. Ambani, Founder Chairperson Reliance Foundation said

India being recommended to host the Centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030 is a proud milestone in India’s journey as a global sporting powerhouse. It is a celebration of our nation’s sporting spirit and talent! My heartfelt gratitude to our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi ji for his visionary leadership and steadfast support in making this historic bid. This moment marks another step forward towards our shared dream of bringing the Olympic Games to India.

Jai Hind!
