Team India Departs for Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain

New Delhi, October 21, 2025: A 23-member Indian boxing contingent has departed for Manama, Bahrain, to compete at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 from October 23 to 30. The team will participate across 14 weight categories — seven each for boys and girls in the U-17 age group.

The boxers recently completed a high-intensity training camp at NIS Patiala (September 23–October 20), focusing on technical, tactical, and physical conditioning under Head Coaches Vinod Kumar and Jitender Raj Singh. The squad was finalized based on performances at the 6th U-17 Junior Nationals 2025, with gold medalists earning direct selection.

Among the top names are Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari, all national champions and key figures in India’s youth boxing rise. India’s strong showing at the Asian U-17 Championships in July, where the country won 43 medals and finished second overall, adds to the team’s confidence.

BFI President Ajay Singh expressed optimism, stating that the young boxers are ready to take on Asia’s best and continue India’s upward trajectory. The boxing events will be held at Exhibition World Bahrain Hall 9, with medal bouts on October 30 and the closing ceremony on October 31.
