Mumbai Indians will enter the 2026 Women’s Premier League with confidence after successfully bringing back most members of their 2025 title-winning squad at the mega auction in New Delhi. Team owner Mrs. Nita M Ambani said the strategy was clear — to retain the core group — expressing her excitement about re-signing Amelia Kerr along with “the four Ss”: Shabnim, Saika, Sajana and Sanskriti. She also welcomed young talents Rahila Firdous, Nalla Kranthi Reddy, Triveni Vashisth, and overseas additions Poonam Khemnar, Milly Illingworth and Nicola Carey into the MI family.
With captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews, Amanjot Kaur and G Kamalini already retained, MI further strengthened their core by buying back Amelia Kerr, Saika Ishaque, S Sajana, Sanskriti Gupta and veteran pacer Shabnim Ismail. Harmanpreet, present at the auction table, said she was initially nervous but delighted with the planning and Nita Ambani’s active involvement. She added that getting most former teammates back reflects the trust the team has in its players.
Alongside the established names, MI added fresh energy with Australian all-rounder Nicola Carey, young pacer Milly Illingworth and domestic standouts Rahila Firdous and Poonam Khemnar. Staying true to their philosophy of promoting young Indian talent, MI completed a balanced squad by signing first-time WPL entrants Nalla Kranthi Reddy and Triveni Vasistha, ensuring a blend of experience, youth and match-winning ability for the upcoming season.
