Virat Kohli Smashes 53rd ODI Century, Inches Closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s World Record

Virat Kohli struck his 53rd ODI century in the second match against South Africa in Raipur, extending his record as the batter with the most ODI tons in the world. The 37-year-old reached the milestone in just 90 balls, registering his second consecutive century of the series after his 135-run knock in Ranchi.

This century also marked Kohli’s 84th international ton, taking him one step closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 100 international hundreds. Kohli now holds the record for the most instances of back-to-back ODI centuries (11), underlining his remarkable consistency in the 50-over format.

With this performance, Kohli has also strengthened his push towards reclaiming the ICC No.1 ODI batting ranking, now trailing Rohit Sharma by just 32 rating points. The former India captain has moved ahead of Shubman Gill into the fourth spot, making steady progress toward the top of the charts.

India had more to celebrate as Kuldeep Yadav climbed to sixth place in the latest ICC ODI bowling rankings. Kohli’s form, combined with India’s rising players, adds momentum to the team ahead of upcoming white-ball assignments.
