Virat Kohli has jumped two places to second spot in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings after a stunning performance in the three-match series against South Africa. With scores of 135, 102, and an unbeaten 65, Kohli amassed 302 runs and finished as Player of the Series. He is now only eight rating points behind top-ranked Rohit Sharma, keeping India’s dominance intact at the top of the batting chart.
South Africa’s Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock also made notable gains after scoring centuries in the series, moving to 25th and 13th positions respectively. Skipper Temba Bavuma climbed to 37th after consistent performances. On the bowling front, Kuldeep Yadav’s match-winning 4 for 41 in the final ODI lifted him three places to third in the ODI bowling rankings.
In the ICC World Test Championship rankings, England’s Joe Root retained the number one position after a century in Australia. Kane Williamson moved to second while Steve Smith climbed to third, pushing Harry Brook down to fourth. Australia’s Mitchell Starc had an impressive pink-ball Test, scoring 77 and taking six wickets for 75, helping him rise to a career-best third position in Test bowling.
The Christchurch Test produced standout performances from the West Indies. Justin Greaves’ unbeaten double-century propelled him 16 spots to a career-high 60th. Shai Hope’s 140 pushed him into the top 50, while Kemar Roach’s gritty 58* and five wickets brought him back into the top 20 Test bowlers at No. 18. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham also made significant progress with big hundreds.
The T20I rankings also shifted after India’s commanding 101-run win over South Africa in Cuttack.
