Virat Kohli marked a memorable return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy by scoring a brilliant century for Delhi against Andhra Pradesh in Bengaluru, ending a 15-year wait for a hundred in the tournament. Chasing a target of 299, Delhi recovered from an early setback after opener Arpit Rana was dismissed for zero, thanks to a composed and authoritative innings from Kohli. He stitched together a crucial 113-run partnership with Priyansh Arya, who contributed 74, helping Delhi take control of the chase.
Kohli reached his century off just 83 balls, displaying confident stroke-play across the ground. The knock also marked his 58th List A hundred, bringing him within touching distance of Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 60 centuries in the format. During the innings, Kohli also crossed 1,000 List A runs for Delhi, further strengthening his domestic record. He eventually departed for 131 off 101 deliveries, hitting 14 boundaries and three sixes.
The veteran batter has been in outstanding form in recent weeks. After a slow start to the Australia tour earlier this season, he bounced back strongly with an unbeaten 76 in the third ODI, followed by consecutive centuries against South Africa. With three hundreds in his last four innings across formats, Kohli has once again underlined his consistency and big-match temperament.
This was Kohli’s first appearance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy since 2010, making the milestone knock even more significant as he continues to add new chapters to his illustrious career.
