Ishan Kishan Smashes 33-Ball Century As Records Tumble In Vijay Hazare Trophy

Ishan Kishan smashed a sensational 33-ball century as records tumbled on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. Playing for Jharkhand against Karnataka in Ahmedabad, the wicketkeeper-batter came in at No. 6 and produced a stunning counter-attacking knock, finishing with 125 runs off just 39 balls. His whirlwind hundred became the second-fastest List-A century by an Indian, just behind Sakibul Gani’s 32-ball ton recorded earlier the same day. Bihar’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi also struck a 36-ball hundred, making it a remarkable day for big-hitting milestones in domestic cricket.

Jharkhand, who had lost early wickets after Karnataka opted to field, recovered through a solid 129-run fourth-wicket stand between Virat Singh (88 off 68) and Kumar Kushagra (63). Once Kishan arrived, the innings shifted gears dramatically, as he cleared the ropes at will and powered Jharkhand to a commanding total of 412/9 in 50 overs.

The innings comes just days after Kishan earned a place in India’s squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most explosive limited-overs batters in the country. His performance also reignited discussions about his return to the national playing XI.

Earlier in the day, Gani and Suryavanshi’s blistering hundreds for Bihar had already rewritten the domestic record charts, before Kishan’s effort added yet another twist. With three ultra-fast centuries scored within hours, the Vijay Hazare Trophy opener turned into a memorable day for Indian cricket statisticians and fans alike.
