Mumbai, January 6 — With the Women’s Premier League 2026 beginning on January 9, the Gujarat Giants expressed confidence and clarity of purpose ahead of the new season during a pre-season media interaction in Mumbai. After a breakthrough playoff appearance last year, the Adani Sportsline-owned franchise aims to build consistency and push for a deeper run this season.
Captain Ashleigh Gardner, pacer Renuka Singh, Kashvee Gautam, head coach Michael Klinger, newly appointed fielding coach Sarah Taylor, and Adani Sportsline Chief Business Officer Sanjay Adesara addressed the media, highlighting squad balance, preparation, and competitive intent. The Giants will open their campaign on January 10 against UP Warriorz, playing their first four matches in Navi Mumbai before moving to Vadodara from January 19 for the final leg of the league stage.
Gardner emphasised leadership through trust and team culture, while Klinger noted that executing “small but crucial moments” would be key to success. Renuka Singh said the team was united in its pursuit of the title, while Sarah Taylor underlined an aggressive approach to fielding standards. Kashvee Gautam spoke about contributing across departments and building on the confidence gained from WPL opportunities.
Adesara said the progress made in 2025 reinforced the franchise’s direction, stressing humility off the field and intensity on it, with a squad blending international experience and emerging Indian talent.
The Giants’ WPL 2026 squad includes Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Sophie Molineux, Renuka Singh Thakur, Kashvee Gautam, Titas Sadhu, Kanika Ahuja, Tanuja Kanwar, Georgia Wareham, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Yastika Bhatia and others, as the team targets another playoff qualification and a stronger title push.
