The sixth edition of the Mumbai Indians Junior tournament concluded at the MIG Cricket Club in Bandra, showcasing exceptional young talent across categories. Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School (Boys U-16), Modern English School (Girls U-15), and V.K. Krishna Menon Academy (U-14) emerged as champions.
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene attended the closing ceremony and praised the participants, encouraging them to enjoy the game and aim to represent Mumbai in the future. He also highlighted the venue’s legacy, noting that players like Hardik Pandya trained there in their early days.
The Boys U-16 final delivered a thrilling finish, as Anjuman-I-Islam edged Sitaram Prakash High School by just 3 runs. Yuvan Sharma’s explosive 52 powered his side to 253, while Aayush Shete’s brilliant 155 kept the chase alive till the very end.
In the U-14 category, V.K. Krishna Menon Academy registered a strong win, while Modern English School clinched the Girls U-15 title with a composed performance led by Ruth Saluja and Tanvi Rane.
The tournament once again highlighted Mumbai’s strong grassroots cricket structure and promising future stars.
