IPL 2026 Preview: Five time champion Chennai Super Kings aim for fresh start

Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set for a new chapter in the Indian Premier League 2026 after finishing last in the previous season. The franchise has made bold moves, signaling a transition phase while still relying on experienced stars.

Legendary captain MS Dhoni returns for another season, providing leadership and stability. However, a major shift came with the trade of Ravindra Jadeja to bring in Sanju Samson, hinting at long-term planning for the wicketkeeper role. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the side again.

CSK have strengthened their squad with exciting additions like Dewald Brevis and spinner Noor Ahmad. However, an early setback came with the injury to pacer Nathan Ellis, affecting their bowling plans.

Historically, CSK remain one of the most successful IPL teams, winning five titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023) and reaching 10 finals, showcasing unmatched consistency.
