Top-seeded players lived up to expectations as competitive action resumed at the G D Birla Memorial Masters Inter-Club Badminton Tournament at Bombay Gymkhana on Thursday.
In Professional Singles (Round of 16), top seed Manoj Nachanekar delivered a strong performance, defeating Pranit Suryakant Bane 30-22. The only notable upset came from Ananda Maskar, who edged past third seed Premal Mankar 30-26. Sanjay Golbare and fourth seed Akshay Kanchawade registered comfortable wins, while second seed Chetan Bandarkar cruised into the next round with a 30-19 victory.
In Professional Doubles, the top-seeded pair of Manoj Nachanekar and Rahul Bhuvad dominated their match with a 30-14 win. Second seeds Kalpesh Padekar and Sanjay Golbare also progressed confidently. Other pairs, including Akshay Kanchawade / Dinesh Golbare and Ajay Mali / Ananda Maskar, advanced with convincing margins.
.The Women’s Doubles 75+ category witnessed closely fought encounters. Jaanvi Merani and Sonal Battad secured a 30-23 win, while Aanchal Vaswani and Khushboo Sagar won 30-25. Ajita Ravindran and Namrata Ghole battled hard for a 30-26 victory. The standout performance came from Kiran Shete and Ramya Venkat, who stormed to a dominant 30-10 win. Overall, seeded players largely maintained their dominance in the tournament.
