Ahmedabad, June 1: While Royal Challengers Bengaluru celebrated their successful IPL 2026 title defense, the spotlight at the post-match awards ceremony belonged to Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
At just 15 years of age, Sooryavanshi capped off a dream season by collecting multiple individual honours, underlining his extraordinary impact on the tournament. The young batter emerged as one of the biggest stars of IPL 2026, earning recognition for his consistency, power-hitting, and match-winning performances throughout the season.
Sooryavanshi finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 776 runs and claimed the Orange Cap. He was also named the Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player of the Season, reflecting his all-round influence for Rajasthan Royals.
The teenager’s aggressive batting style was evident in the statistics. He smashed a tournament-high 71 sixes and registered the best strike rate among leading batters at an astonishing 237.31. His remarkable campaign was further rewarded with a Tata Sierra car and prize money worth ₹45 lakh.
Among the other major award winners, Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada secured the Purple Cap after finishing as the season’s highest wicket-taker with 29 wickets. His teammate Mohammed Siraj received the award for bowling the most dot balls during the tournament.
Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan finished with the highest number of boundaries, striking 75 fours across the season. Kolkata Knight Riders veteran Manish Pandey earned the Best Catch award, while Punjab Kings were honoured with the Fair Play Award.
The IPL 2026 season will be remembered not only for RCB’s title-winning campaign but also for the emergence of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose record-breaking performances announced the arrival of one of Indian cricket’s most exciting young talents.
