Ahmedabad, June 1, 2026: Gujarat Titans players and support staff escaped unharmed after their team bus experienced an electrical malfunction while returning from the IPL 2026 final on Sunday night.
According to reports, smoke began spreading inside the vehicle following a suspected short circuit during the journey from the Narendra Modi Stadium to the team hotel. The bus was immediately stopped, and all passengers were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The incident occurred just hours after Gujarat Titans suffered a five-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 final. Team members were temporarily stranded on the roadside before alternate transport was arranged to take them back to their hotel.
The scare added to a demanding travel schedule for the Titans, who had already faced a hectic itinerary during the playoffs. The team travelled extensively in the lead-up to the final, with weather-related disruptions reportedly affecting their travel plans ahead of the title clash.
Despite the frightening incident, no injuries were reported, and all players and officials were confirmed safe.
Following the final, Gujarat Titans management refrained from citing fatigue as an excuse for their defeat, instead acknowledging Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s strong performance on the night.
The unexpected bus malfunction, however, brought a dramatic end to an already disappointing evening for the runners-up, who narrowly missed out on lifting the IPL 2026 trophy.
