Johannesburg, July 31: The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially unveiled the host cities and tournament brand for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, which will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in October-November 2027.
The tournament, returning to Africa for the first time since 2003, will feature 14 teams, 57 matches and be played across 12 venues—eight in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia.
The event’s brand, “Make the Circle Bigger,” is inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu, symbolising unity, inclusivity and community. The visual identity is based on the traditional African woven bowl, representing hospitality and togetherness as the three nations prepare to welcome cricket fans from around the world.
The host venues include Johannesburg, Tshwane, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Paarl and KuGompo City in South Africa; Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe; and Windhoek in Namibia.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah described the launch as a major milestone, expressing confidence that the three nations would deliver a memorable World Cup. ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the tournament would celebrate Africa’s rich culture, diversity and passion for cricket.
The 2027 edition will feature a new three-stage competition format, including a Super Series, group stage, Super Seven and knockout rounds, aimed at increasing competitiveness and enhancing the fan experience. The tournament marks Namibia’s first time hosting matches at a Men’s Cricket World Cup.
