Slovakia, August 21, 2026: Indian wrestling star Kajal Dhochak continued her remarkable rise by winning the women’s 76kg gold medal at the 2026 U20 Wrestling World Championships in Slovakia.

The 18-year-old produced a dominant performance in the final, defeating China’s Jingru Sun 7-0 on points to secure the world title. The victory marks Kajal’s second consecutive U20 World Championship crown, following her 2025 triumph in the 72kg category.

Kajal has now added another major achievement to an impressive international record that also includes the 2024 U17 World Championship title in the 69kg category, along with gold medals at the U23 Asian Championships and Budapest Ranking Series earlier this year.

India also collected two silver medals on the day.

In the 72kg category, Tanu Sharma fought Japan’s Chisato Yoshida in a closely contested final. Tanu was edged 3-5 on points and had to settle for silver after a strong campaign.

Savita also finished runner-up in the 62kg category. She faced Japan’s Sakura Onishi in the final but was defeated 2-12 by technical superiority.

With Kajal’s gold and the two silver medals, India’s women’s wrestling tally at the championships stands at three medals so far.

The Indian contingent will be aiming for more podium finishes as the competition enters its final phase, with wrestlers set to compete in the women’s 57kg, 59kg and 68kg categories, besides the men’s freestyle 61kg and 86kg divisions.
