End of an Era: Veteran Actor Dharmendra Passes Away

Bollywood’s legendary actor Dharmendra Deol has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89. He had been dealing with respiratory and other health complications and was rushed to the hospital earlier this month.

Across a glorious career of over six decades, Dharmendra acted in more than 300 films including Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta and Chupke Chupke. His debut was in 1960 and his final film Ikkis is scheduled for release in December.

He earned numerous honours such as Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and the Padma Bhushan. Dharmendra also served as a Member of Parliament from Bikaner in 2004.

He is survived by his wife Hema Malini and his six children including actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. After the news broke, tributes flooded social media from PM Narendra Modi, Karan Johar, Boman Irani and many others.

Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and several celebrities visited the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai to pay their last respects. Fans mourned the passing of an icon who brought warmth, charm and heroism to Indian cinema.
