Mumbai, August 11, 2025: Cathedral and John Connon School (Fort) clinched the Boys Under-16 Division I title at the Dream Sports MSSA Inter-School Football Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Smt. R.S.B. Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu) in the final at Wings Sports Centre, Bandra (West) on Monday. Goals from Anaai Dsouza, Zahan Mistry, and Veer Kedia sealed the win, while Prithviraj Tanpure scored for AVM.
The final was attended by Indian footballer Raju Gaikwad and former Santosh Trophy player Neil Dcosta. Gaikwad praised the tournament’s infrastructure and urged young players to stay disciplined while enjoying the game.
In the third-place playoff, Don Bosco (Matunga) edged Don Bosco (Borivali) 5-4 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation time. In the Girls U-16 Division I semi-finals, Cathedral beat Bombay Scottish (Powai) 4-3 on penalties, while Jamnabai Narsee (Juhu) overcame Smt. RSB AVM (Juhu) 3-2, both matches ending in draws before shootouts.
Meanwhile, in the Boys U-16 Division II-C category, SVKM (Vile Parle) defeated St. Francis D’Assisi (Borivali) 2-1, with Nivaan Pawar and Smayan Gupta finding the net for the winners.
