ED Issues Summons to Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa in Illegal Betting App Probe

New Delhi, September 16, 2025: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa in connection with its ongoing investigation into an alleged illegal online betting application, sources confirmed.

According to officials, Robin Uthappa (39) has been asked to appear before the agency on September 22, 2025, while Yuvraj Singh has been directed to record his statement on September 23, 2025. Both players have been called under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The probe reportedly involves suspected financial irregularities linked to the online betting platform, which is believed to have operated illegally, attracting thousands of users across India. The ED is examining possible money trail connections, celebrity endorsements, and promotional activities that may have contributed to the platform’s expansion.

While the agency has not confirmed the exact role of the two cricketers, their statements are expected to provide crucial insights into the case. The summons come amid a wider crackdown on online betting networks, which have raised concerns over money laundering, illegal transactions, and potential links to organized syndicates.

The issue of illegal betting in sports has long been under the scanner of Indian authorities, given its impact on financial security and sporting integrity. With two high-profile former players now under investigation, the case is expected to gain significant public and legal attention in the coming weeks.
