Global Chess League Turns Mumbai Into a Citywide Chessboard as Season 3 Tickets Go Live

The Global Chess League (GCL) has opened ticket sales for Season 3 while transforming Mumbai into a citywide chessboard. Over 1,000 GCL-themed taxis, autos, and buses in purple and white are now running across the city as a promotional fleet, marking the build-up to the tournament scheduled at Mumbai’s Royal Opera House from December 13 to 24. District has been announced as the official ticketing partner.

The flag-off at the Royal Opera House showcased the tournament’s flair and star power, with World Champion Gukesh D, Viswanathan Anand, Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi, Vidit Gujrathi, Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, Hou Yifan, and other global icons set to compete. Fans can choose from multiple seating tiers starting at INR 499, with premium categories offering closer, immersive views of the action.

Commissioner Gourav Rakshit highlighted that Mumbai itself becomes the “seventh participant,” with every GCL-themed vehicle symbolizing the city turning into a giant chessboard. Six powerhouse teams—including Triveni Continental Kings, upGrad Mumba Masters, and Ganges Grandmasters—will battle it out in the world’s only mixed-team chess league, promising a high-energy season for fans.
