Historic First IPBL Draft: Mumbai Smashers Steal the Show

The Mumbai Smashers kicked off the inaugural Indian Pickleball League (IPBL) in style by drafting World No. 3 Quang Duong as their marquee international pick. They further strengthened their squad with leading Indian names Ammol Ramchandani and Pearl Amalsadiwala, adding balance and power to the roster.

Set to take place from December 1–7 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in New Delhi, the first-ever IPBL aims to showcase world-class pickleball action in India. The league is backed by The Times Group and sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association, marking a major step in the sport’s national rise.

Guided by former Indian tennis player Rohan Gajjar, the Smashers have built a fast and fearless lineup. American professional Allison Harris brings international experience and calm control, while Rising Stars Rishi Reddy and Sindoor Mittal offer energy and future potential.

With six teams — Mumbai Smashers, Hyderabad Royals, Chennai Super Warriors, Capital Warriors Gurgaon, Bengaluru Blasters and Lucknow Leopards — fighting for the first IPBL title, the league promises intense battles and a new sporting excitement for fans across the country.
