History Made: India Win Inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup

India created history by winning the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final held at the P Sara Oval in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Nepal set a target of 115 runs on the board, finishing at 114/5.

Chasing the score with confidence, India reached the target in just 12.1 overs, losing only three wickets. Star performer Phula Saren led the charge with a brilliant 44 runs off 27 balls, ensuring India’s unbeaten run remained intact throughout the tournament.

India showcased dominance in the league stage with victories over Sri Lanka, Australia, Nepal, USA, and Pakistan, followed by another impressive win against Australia in the semi-final. The event was co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with matches played across Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo.

Blind cricket features eleven players per team and uses a specially designed white ball with ball bearings to assist players in tracking movement through sound, adding a unique dimension to the game and its spirit of inclusivity.
