ICC announces Player of the Month nominees for December

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the nominees for its Player of the Month awards for December, recognising outstanding individual performances across international cricket in both men’s and women’s categories.

In the men’s list, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc, New Zealand seamer Jacob Duffy and West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves have been shortlisted following impressive displays during the month. On the women’s side, India opener Shafali Verma features alongside South African duo Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus.

Starc earned his nomination after a strong showing in the Ashes series, where he claimed 16 wickets in three Tests at a consistent average. The left-arm pacer also made valuable contributions with the bat, underlining his all-round impact during the series. New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy impressed with a match-winning spell across a three-Test series against the West Indies, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 23 scalps and earning Player of the Series honours. West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves stood out with a memorable unbeaten double century in Christchurch, while also contributing with the ball.

Among the women, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt delivered a dominant batting performance across formats against Ireland, scoring heavily in both ODIs and T20Is. Her teammate Sune Luus produced a strong all-round display, combining runs with crucial wickets. India’s Shafali Verma completed the shortlist after a series of explosive innings in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, where she topped the scoring charts and was named Player of the Series.

The winners will be decided through a combined voting process involving an independent ICC panel and cricket fans worldwide.
