London, August 4, 2025 — In a finish for the ages, India edged out England by just 6 runs in the fifth and final Test at The Oval to level the series 2-2, retaining the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The victory was powered by Mohammed Siraj’s five-wicket haul, the resilience of Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and a calm, disciplined bowling performance on the final morning.
🎯 England Fall Agonisingly Short
Chasing 374 for victory, England looked on course thanks to centuries from Joe Root (105) and Harry Brook (111). The pair added a game-changing 195-run stand for the fourth wicket, taking England from a shaky 106/3 to 301/4.
But once Brook fell late on Day 4 to Washington Sundar, the tide began to turn. Siraj and Prasidh Krishna ran through the middle and lower order with the second new ball, reducing England to 339/6 by stumps — still needing 35 runs.
On the final day, Siraj removed Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton, while Krishna cleaned up Josh Tongue. With just 17 runs needed, an injured Chris Woakes walked out with his arm in a sling but didn’t face a ball. Siraj bowled Gus Atkinson with a searing yorker to complete an incredible win.
