IND VS WI – KL Rahul Ends 9-Year Wait for Home Test Century

Ahmedabad, Oct 3 – India’s opener KL Rahul brought up his first Test hundred on home soil in nine years during Day 2 of the opening Test against West Indies. Rahul, who last struck a home century with his 199 against England in Chennai in 2016, reached his milestone with a single off Roston Chase. It was his 11th Test century overall.

Rahul and skipper Shubman Gill guided India past West Indies’ first-innings total of 162 with a solid 98-run stand. Gill, who made 50 off 100 balls, fell to a reverse sweep against Chase. Earlier, Rahul had looked assured, collecting boundaries from the outset before steadying the innings under tight West Indies bowling.

India went past 200 runs with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel joining Rahul at the crease. Rahul’s century came off 190 deliveries and included 12 fours, showcasing patience and composure to anchor India’s innings. Jurel added flair with a stylish off-drive for four to close the session.

On Day 1, Mohammed Siraj (4 wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (3 wickets) dismantled the visitors, restricting them to 162. Justin Greaves top-scored with 32. With Rahul back in form at home, India hold the upper hand going into the later stages of the match.
