Mumbai: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially announced the return of the T20 Mumbai League with its much-awaited Season 4 while also unveiling the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women’s League, marking a major step forward for women’s cricket in the city.
The trophies for both tournaments were unveiled by India captain Rohit Sharma at a special event in Mumbai. The launch ceremony was attended by India and Mumbai player Sayali Satghare, MCA President Ajinkya Naik, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and former MCA President Ashish Shelar, and League Governing Council Chairman Rajdip Gupta along with several officials and franchise representatives.
Speaking at the event, Rohit Sharma praised the league for providing a strong platform to young cricketers. He noted that several players who performed in the T20 Mumbai League later went on to play in the IPL and represent India, highlighting the tournament’s role in developing emerging talent.
Sayali Satghare welcomed the launch of the women’s competition, saying it will create new opportunities for young girls to compete at a high level and dream of representing Mumbai and India in the future.
The inaugural women’s tournament will feature three teams operated by PRS Infraprojects LLP, Roadway Solution India Infra Ltd and World Star Sporting Private Limited.
Meanwhile, the men’s Season 4 will continue with eight franchises representing different regions of Mumbai, including Bandra Blasters, SoBo Mumbai Falcons, North Mumbai Panthers and Eagle Thane Strikers.
Since its launch in 2018, the T20 Mumbai League has become one of India’s leading domestic T20 competitions, producing players like Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande who progressed to higher levels of the game.
