PCI President Devendra Jhajharia to Present India’s Para Sports Vision at 2025 APC General Assembly

The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) will represent the nation at the 2025 Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Conference, General Assembly, and Asian Awards, set to take place from August 10–15 in Astana, Kazakhstan. PCI President and two-time Paralympic gold medalist Devendra Jhajharia, along with General Secretary Jaywant Hammanavar, will attend the prestigious event, which gathers over 200 delegates from 45 Asian National Paralympic Committees and key global sports stakeholders.

The event will kick off with a two-day conference featuring workshops and expert-led sessions focused on the future of para sports in Asia. It will be followed by the APC General Assembly, where strategic decisions will be made, including approval of the APC’s long-term plan and financial accounts. The Asian Awards will celebrate excellence in para sports across seven categories, including Best Male and Female Athletes, Youth Athlete, Team Performance, and Outstanding NPC Performance.

Speaking ahead of the event, Devendra Jhajharia emphasized India’s evolving leadership in para sports and its commitment to inclusion and excellence. “India is undergoing a transformative phase in para sports. The APC Conference is a crucial opportunity to share our vision, particularly our preparations for hosting the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi,” he said. Jhajharia added that the PCI is dedicated to delivering a world-class event that will solidify India’s role as a global hub for inclusive sports.

India’s participation in the APC Conference further signals its growing influence in the Asian and global para sports community. With major events on the horizon, including the World Para Athletics Championships, India aims to set new standards in accessibility, athlete development, and international collaboration—advancing its vision of becoming a leading force in the global para sports movement.
