Ritika Wins Gold as India Ends Asian U22 & U19 Boxing Championships 2025 with 27 Medals

India finishes 2nd in U19 and 4th in U22 overall standings in Bangkok

Bangkok, August 11, 2025: India wrapped up a successful campaign at the Asian U19 and U22 Boxing Championships 2025 with a total of 27 medals—14 in U19 and 13 in U22—concluding 10 days of intense competition in Bangkok. The standout moment came as Ritika clinched gold in the women’s 80+kg category, defeating Kazakhstan’s Assel Toktassyn in the final.

The U19 contingent bagged 3 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze, placing second overall behind Uzbekistan in the gold medal tally, while leading in total medals. In the U22 category, Indian boxers secured 4 silver and 9 bronze medals, finishing fourth overall.

India fielded a strong 40-member squad—20 each in U19 and U22—with a balanced mix of experienced names and rising stars. The performance reaffirms India’s growing dominance in youth boxing across Asia.

Despite missing out on more golds on the final day, five Indian boxers claimed silver, including Yatri Patel (57kg), Priya (60kg), Neeraj (75kg), and Ishan Kataria (90+kg), all of whom lost closely contested finals to strong opponents from Uzbekistan and China.

India’s performance highlights the depth of its grassroots boxing programs. Earlier in 2025, the U15 and U17 boxers had won 43 medals at their Asian Championships, with the U15 girls’ team sweeping 10 out of 15 golds—a strong sign for the country’s boxing future.
