Cricket legend Sourav Ganguly has come on board as Co-Owner and Mentor of Tiigers of Kolkata, strengthening the franchise’s long-term vision ahead of Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 3. The T10 tennis-ball tournament will be played from January 9 to February 6 at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat, with Ganguly set to play a key role both off the field and within the team setup.
One of India’s most successful captains, Ganguly brings vast leadership and developmental experience to a league rooted in gully and street cricket. His involvement is aimed at shaping raw tennis-ball talent into disciplined, match-ready performers, while creating a clear growth pathway for players, particularly from the eastern region and Kolkata’s strong grassroots base.
Speaking on the association, Ganguly said tennis-ball cricket reflects the true roots of the game and expressed excitement about mentoring players and building winning habits. He emphasised the importance of trust, patience, and clarity in player development, values that align closely with Tiigers of Kolkata’s philosophy.
Tiigers enter Season 3 with a settled core, including all-rounder Bhavesh Pawar, highest signing Saif Ali, and key players Saroj Pramanik and Rajat Mundhe, alongside a balanced mix of experienced and under-19 talents. With Ganguly joining the ownership and mentoring structure, the franchise aims to build sustained success while reinforcing ISPL’s growing credibility as a platform for street cricketers.
