Super 8 Stage Locked In as T20 World Cup 2026 Heads Into Knockout Race


The Super 8 line-up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has been confirmed after the completion of the group stage matches. The top two teams from each group have advanced to the next phase, setting up an intense battle for semi-final spots.

From Group A, India and Pakistan progressed, while Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe advanced from Group B. Group C saw West Indies and England move ahead, and South Africa and New Zealand qualified from Group D.

The eight teams have been divided into two groups of four. Group 1 features India, Zimbabwe, West Indies and South Africa. Group 2 includes Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand. The top two teams from each group will secure places in the semi-finals.

Key Group 1 fixtures include India vs South Africa in Ahmedabad on February 22, India vs Zimbabwe in Chennai on February 26, and India vs West Indies in Kolkata on March 1. In Group 2, major clashes include New Zealand vs Pakistan on February 21 in Colombo, England vs Pakistan on February 24 in Kandy, and Pakistan vs Sri Lanka on February 28.

Meanwhile, all Super 8 teams have secured automatic qualification for the 2028 T20 World Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The remaining automatic qualification spots will be decided based on ICC T20I rankings, while other teams will progress through regional qualifiers.
With heavyweight contests lined up, the race to the semi-finals promises high-intensity cricket over the coming days.
