Tech Mahindra Foundation has launched a nationwide Chess League for children with speech and hearing impairments, aiming to make the sport more accessible and inclusive. Over 130 children have already registered under the company’s ARISE+ disability program. Winners from each city will get a special opportunity to witness the Global Chess League (GCL) Finals live in Mumbai this December.
The league features three age groups—below 12, 12–18, and 18+—with a beginner-friendly single-day format of 15-minute individual games. Winners and runners-up will earn medals, certificates, and a chance to meet top chess players at the GCL. Tech Mahindra plans to introduce time increments and team formats as the program expands nationally.
Events were conducted across major Indian cities between November 24 and 28, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru. The initiative reinforces the organisation’s commitment to nurturing talent and building accessible sporting platforms for Persons with Disabilities.
The program aligns with Tech Mahindra’s broader efforts to grow India’s chess ecosystem, ahead of GCL Season 3 scheduled from December 13 to 24 at Mumbai’s Royal Opera House. Through grassroots engagement and inclusive opportunities, the Foundation aims to empower young players and inspire a stronger chess culture nationwide.
