Ahead of Women’s Premier League (WPL) Season 4, UP Warriorz have appointed former Indian cricketer and celebrated coach Abhishek Nayar as their new Head Coach.
Nayar, who played a key role as assistant coach in KKR’s IPL 2024 title win and was also part of the Indian men’s team coaching staff that won the Champions Trophy 2025, brings years of player development expertise and domestic & international coaching experience.
The announcement, made on social media with stand-up comedian Zakir Khan as the face of Warriorz fans, featured a special video shot at Nayar’s alma mater, Bombay Scottish School.
“WPL is a fantastic platform, and I’m excited to help UP Warriorz fight for their first-ever title,” said Abhishek Nayar.
Nayar has been credited for mentoring stars like Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, and helping KL Rahul regain T20 form. The franchise believes his leadership will bring consistency, strength, and a winning mindset to the squad.
“Nayar’s vision and experience make him one of the best minds in global cricket,” added Kshemal Waingankar, COO, UP Warriorz.
With this move, UP Warriorz show strong intent to push for success and create memorable moments for fans in WPL Season 4.
