World Boxing Championships 2025: Minakshi, Jaismine Strike Gold in India’s Historic Overseas Show

Indian women boxers created history at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool, delivering their best-ever overseas performance. Minakshi (48kg) and Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) clinched gold medals, while Nupur (80+kg) won silver and Pooja Rani (80kg) secured bronze. This four-medal haul marked India’s strongest showing at the prestigious event.

Jaismine gave India its first gold with a commanding 4:1 win over Olympic silver medallist Julia Szeremeta of Poland, while Minakshi followed with an identical 4:1 victory against Kazakhstan’s three-time world champion Nazym Kyzaibay. Both boxers, competing in their maiden world finals, displayed remarkable composure against seasoned opponents.

Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh hailed the achievement, crediting the “athlete-first” policy for the breakthrough. He expressed confidence that this success signals India’s rise in world boxing and predicted that these women boxers will emerge as future Olympic champions.
