MCA Unveils Honours Board for Mumbai Sports Journalists at Wankhede

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) honoured Mumbai’s sports journalists by unveiling a special Honours Board at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 4. The board has been installed at the Balasaheb Thackeray Press Box to recognise the long-standing contribution of journalists to the city’s cricketing legacy.

The ceremony was attended by MCA President Ajinkya Naik, Secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar and Joint Secretary Nilesh Bhosle, along with members of the Apex Council and several senior members of the sports media fraternity.

Speaking at the event, Naik emphasised the important role played by journalists in documenting and promoting Mumbai cricket. He said the city’s rich cricketing heritage has been shaped not only by players on the field but also by reporters and writers who have consistently chronicled the game with passion and integrity. The Honours Board, he said, is a small yet meaningful tribute to their dedication.
Khanvilkar added that sports journalists have played a crucial role in preserving Mumbai’s cricket history and bringing the sport closer to fans across generations.

The Honours Board will remain permanently displayed at the press box of Wankhede Stadium as a mark of respect to journalists who have contributed to the growth and storytelling of Mumbai cricket over the years.
