India Create History with Record-Breaking Test Triumph Over Afghanistan

India scripted history by registering their biggest-ever victory in Test cricket, crushing Afghanistan national cricket team by an innings and 300 runs in the one-off Test at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The emphatic win surpassed India’s previous largest Test victory—an innings and 272-run triumph over the West Indies in 2018. After posting a massive 564/8 declared in their first innings, India bundled Afghanistan out for 152 and 112, completing the match inside three days.

The star of the match was debutant left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, who produced a sensational performance with figures of 6/33 in Afghanistan’s first innings. The 23-year-old became only the 10th Indian bowler to claim a five-wicket haul on Test debut and recorded the second-best bowling figures by an Indian debutant after Narendra Hirwani.

Resuming the third day at 113/5, Afghanistan struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. Suthar dismantled the lower order, while in the second innings, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav shared seven wickets to seal a historic victory.

Rahmat Shah’s 60 was the lone bright spot for Afghanistan in the first innings, while Sediqullah Atal top-scored with 42 in the second. The record-breaking win highlights India’s dominance in home conditions and marks a dream start to Suthar’s Test career.
