Mumbai, June 9: Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs registered a dominant 66-run victory over SOBO Mumbai Falcons in the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.
After electing to bat first, the Tigers posted a massive 227/6 in 20 overs, thanks to impressive half-centuries from Jay Bista and Ajit Yadav. Bista provided a flying start with 57 runs, while Ajit played a sensational knock of 68 off just 35 balls. Skipper Sarfaraz Khan also contributed a quickfire 31 as the Tigers raced to 50 in only three overs.
Following Sarfaraz’s dismissal, Varun Lavande (35) and Ajit Yadav stitched together a crucial 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket, helping the Tigers maintain their momentum and finish with a formidable total.
In reply, the Falcons began aggressively with opener Ishan Mulchandani smashing 40 off just 15 balls. However, the Tigers fought back strongly after Shams Mulani dismissed Aditya Tare early in the innings.
Off-spinner Shashank Attarde then turned the match decisively in Tigers’ favour, claiming 4/33 and dismantling the Falcons’ top and middle order. He also removed newly appointed India T20I captain Shreyas Iyer for 10 runs. Mulani provided excellent support with 3/47.
Harsh Aghav tried to revive the chase with a fighting 43, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. The Falcons were eventually bowled out for 161 in 17.5 overs.
With a clinical all-round performance, Aakash Tigers secured a convincing victory and strengthened their position in the tournament.
