Rishabh Pant set to return to Delhi Capitals after huge pay cut; Kuldeep Yadav joins LSG

New Delhi: Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to make a return to Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2027 season after Lucknow Super Giants and the player mutually parted ways following two disappointing seasons.

Pant, who became the most expensive player in IPL history after being bought by LSG for ₹27 crore at the 2024 auction, has reportedly agreed to a major pay cut for his return to his former franchise. His revised fee is set at ₹15 crore, which is a reduction of around 44 per cent from his previous salary.

The trade deal also involves India spinner Kuldeep Yadav moving to Lucknow Super Giants. The IPL officially confirmed Pant’s return to Delhi Capitals after weeks of speculation.

LSG had invested heavily in Pant with hopes of building a long-term association, with owner Sanjiv Goenka earlier expressing confidence that the star batter could lead the franchise to multiple IPL titles. However, Pant’s two seasons with the team did not go as planned.

Pant had earlier led Delhi Capitals and was one of their key performers before joining LSG. His return is expected to strengthen Delhi’s batting lineup and leadership options.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav’s move to LSG adds a quality spin option to their squad. The trade is among the biggest player movements ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
