Budapest, July 15: Olympic bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat continued his impressive run on the international circuit by winning the men’s 57kg freestyle gold medal at the Polyák Imre, Varga János & Kozma István Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament 2026 in Budapest.
The 22-year-old Indian wrestler dominated Georgia’s Roberti Dingashvili in the final, registering a convincing 13-3 victory by technical superiority to claim the title. The triumph adds another major achievement to Aman’s growing list of international successes, following his Olympic bronze medal and U23 World Championship title.
India also added a bronze medal through Deepak in the men’s 61kg freestyle category. Deepak edged Azerbaijan’s Nuraddin Novruzov 9-8 in a closely contested bronze medal bout to secure a place on the podium.
The Indian contingent remains in contention for more medals, with Kumar Mohit and Vishal Kaliraman set to compete in their respective bronze medal matches in the 65kg freestyle category against wrestlers from Kazakhstan.
Action at the ranking series will continue with competitions in the remaining men’s freestyle weight categories, including 79kg, 92kg, 97kg and 125kg. India’s women’s campaign will also begin with bouts in the 50kg and 55kg divisions.
India made a strong start to the prestigious ranking event, with Aman leading the charge through a dominant gold-medal performance and Deepak adding another podium finish for the national contingent.
