Glasgow, July 28: Indian para-athlete Shilpa Shyla earned a memorable bronze medal in the women’s Shot Put F57 event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after an official review changed the final standings.

Shilpa had originally finished fourth with a personal-best effort, narrowly missing out on the podium. However, after the competition, officials reviewed the result of a Nigerian athlete and ruled the competitor’s only valid throw as a foul. The decision led to the Nigerian athlete’s disqualification, promoting Shilpa to third place and confirming her as the bronze medallist.
