Veteran sports journalist Jasvinder Sidhu (55) died after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing NH-9 in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri in the early hours of Monday. Sidhu, a resident of Kalkaji, was returning after visiting a friend admitted to a Patparganj hospital when the accident occurred. He was rushed to LBS Hospital and later referred to GTB Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The motorcycle rider, Asif (35) from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, sustained serious injuries and remains under treatment. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving and causing death by negligence. Preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle was travelling at high speed.
Sidhu had over two decades of experience in sports journalism and was widely respected in the media fraternity. The Press Club of India and fellow journalists paid heartfelt tributes, remembering his professionalism, dedication, and willingness to help others.
