Former Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate has reportedly ended his tenure as the Indian men’s cricket team’s assistant coach after informing the BCCI of his decision following India’s recent white-ball tour of England and Ireland.
Ten Doeschate joined the national setup in 2024 as part of head coach Gautam Gambhir’s support staff after India’s T20 World Cup triumph. During his two-year stint, he played an important role in the team’s batting and fielding preparations and was considered one of Gambhir’s trusted coaching members.
India enjoyed several major achievements during his time with the team, including winning the 2025 Asia Cup and successfully defending the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026. However, the Test side faced a challenging period, with disappointing series results in Australia and at home.
With his contract reportedly concluding in mid-2026, the former cricketer is now expected to return to the Kolkata Knight Riders coaching setup in the IPL. He has a long association with the franchise, having been part of its title-winning squads as a player before later serving as the team’s fielding coach.
His return is also likely to reunite him with familiar faces from the KKR coaching group. While the BCCI has not officially announced the development, the reported move marks the end of an eventful chapter in India’s coaching setup and a new beginning for ten Doeschate in franchise cricket.
