Nitish Rana’s Emotional Fifty Turns Into Tribute to Late Mother in DPL

New Delhi, August 18, 2026: Delhi Premier League witnessed an emotional moment on Monday as West Delhi Lions batter Nitish Rana broke down in tears after completing his half-century, dedicating the milestone to his late mother.

Rana, who lost his mother only days ago, scored a fighting 60 off 33 balls, smashing four fours and six sixes. He reached his fifty in just 27 deliveries before pointing towards the sky and becoming visibly emotional. Opposition players and the umpire came forward to console the 32-year-old batter.

Rana also wore a jersey carrying his mother’s name, ‘N. Satish’, on the back during the match. His wife, Saachi Marwah, shared an emotional message on social media, writing, “Mumma is here with you.”

Despite Rana’s aggressive knock, West Delhi Lions were bowled out for 169 against South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

South Delhi produced a dominant response while chasing 170, completing a 10-wicket victory with 28 balls to spare. Openers Sanat Sangwan and Anmol Sharma tore into the bowling attack.

Sangwan scored a sensational 111 not out off 54 balls, including six fours and 10 sixes, reaching his century from just 50 deliveries. Anmol remained unbeaten on 55 off 38 balls, with six fours and a six.

Rana has represented India in one ODI and two T20Is, all during the 2021 tour of Sri Lanka. He most recently played in the IPL for Delhi Capitals, scoring 225 runs in nine matches earlier this year.

His emotional fifty, however, became the defining moment of the DPL contest.
