Australia Clinch Seventh Women’s T20 World Cup Title with Dominant Win Over England

Australia reclaimed the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup crown with a commanding seven-wicket victory over England in the final at Lord’s on Sunday. Chasing 151, the defending champions comfortably reached 153/3 in just 17.1 overs to secure a record-extending seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title.

England posted 150/4 after being asked to bat first. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt anchored the innings with a composed half-century, while Freya Kemp provided late momentum with a brisk 44 off 28 balls. However, Australia’s disciplined bowling attack prevented England from posting a bigger total.

In reply, Beth Mooney once again proved why she is one of the game’s biggest match-winners, scoring a superb 64 to lead the chase. She shared a crucial partnership with Phoebe Litchfield, who contributed an attacking 48, effectively taking the game away from England. Although England claimed three wickets, Australia remained in complete control throughout the chase.

Mooney was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performances across the competition. Australia’s captain Sophie Molineux praised her team’s fearless approach, while England head coach Charlotte Edwards admitted her side had been outplayed but expressed pride in their impressive tournament campaign.

The victory marked Australia’s seventh Women’s T20 World Cup triumph, underlining their continued dominance in world cricket. England, despite reaching the final on home soil, fell short against a clinical Australian side that once again showcased its depth, experience and winning mentality on the biggest stage.
