Guiyang, China, June 21, 2026: Indian boxer Jyoti delivered a remarkable performance at the World Boxing Cup 2 in China, securing the country’s only gold medal after defeating Uzbekistan’s Farzona Fozilova in the 48kg final. Jyoti dominated the bout with a 5-0 unanimous decision victory against the reigning World Boxing Cup Brazil gold medallist.
The victory highlighted Jyoti’s rising profile on the international boxing circuit and capped a strong campaign for India.
India also secured three silver medals in the tournament. Minakshi, the World No. 1 in the 48kg category, competed in the higher 51kg weight division and finished runner-up after losing 0-5 to China’s Wu Yu in the final.
Prachi added another silver medal in the 57kg category after a 0-5 defeat against Uzbekistan’s Nigina Uktamova in the title clash. In the men’s event, Deepak claimed silver in the 70kg category following a loss to Kazakhstan’s Ablaikhan Zhussupov.
India had earlier confirmed two bronze medals through Jugnoo (85kg) and Nikhil (55kg), taking the nation’s total medal tally to six — one gold, three silver, and two bronze.
The overall performance showcased India’s growing strength across multiple weight categories, with several boxers reaching finals and securing podium finishes at the prestigious World Boxing Cup circuit. The results underline the depth and consistency of Indian boxing at the global level.
