Czech star Linda Noskova captured her first Grand Slam title by defeating compatriot Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in a dramatic Wimbledon 2026 women’s singles final at Centre Court.
The 21-year-old looked set for a straightforward victory after dominating the opening set and racing to a 5-2 lead in the second. However, nerves crept in as Noskova squandered five match points, allowing the experienced Muchova to win five consecutive games and force a deciding set.
Showing remarkable composure, Noskova regained control in the third set, building a 5-2 advantage before sealing the biggest victory of her career with a powerful unreturnable serve. She collapsed to the court in celebration after finally converting her seventh match point.
The victory makes Noskova the third Czech woman to win the Wimbledon singles title in the last four years, following Marketa Vondrousova (2023) and Barbora Krejcikova (2024), underlining the country’s continued dominance in women’s tennis.
An emotional Noskova dedicated the triumph to her late mother, who passed away two years ago. “All the sweat, tears and hard work were worth it,” she said during the trophy presentation.
For 29-year-old Muchova, it was another heartbreaking defeat in a Grand Slam final after battling back brilliantly in the second set. Despite the loss, she praised Noskova’s composure and performance on the biggest stage.
