Abu Dhabi, December 16: The IPL 2026 Auction witnessed big-money moves as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) dominated proceedings at the Etihad Arena, landing Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a massive ₹25.20 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history. Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana was another marquee signing for KKR, fetched for ₹18 crore.
Uncapped Indian players stole the spotlight with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) making a strong statement by signing Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma for ₹14.20 crore each, the highest-ever bids for uncapped players in IPL history. CSK also added depth by picking Rahul Chahar for ₹5.20 crore and West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein at base price.
Overall, franchises spent a cumulative ₹215.45 crore to fill all 25 squad slots, with KKR emerging as the highest spender, shelling out ₹62.95 crore. Several established names, including Prithvi Shaw, Liam Livingstone and Devon Conway, surprisingly went unsold across multiple rounds.
With squads finalised, attention now shifts to team balance and on-field combinations ahead of IPL 2026, as franchises bank on a mix of star power and young talent to shape the upcoming season.
