Singapore, May 31: India’s star badminton duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty captured the Singapore Open 2026 BWF World Tour Super 750 men’s doubles title with a remarkable come-from-behind victory over Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Fikri in the final on Sunday.
The fourth-seeded Indian pair recovered after losing the opening game to defeat the third-seeded Indonesians 18-21, 21-17, 21-16 in a thrilling contest that lasted one hour and 13 minutes. With the victory, Satwik and Chirag became the first Indian doubles pair to win the prestigious Singapore Open title.
The triumph marked their third Super 750 crown, having previously won the French Open titles in 2022 and 2024. They also lifted the Indonesia Open Super 1000 trophy in 2023.
After dropping the first game, the Indians raised their intensity in the second, winning six consecutive points from 8-8 to take control and force a decider. Carrying the momentum into the final game, they raced to an 11-5 lead and held their nerve despite a late Indonesian fightback to seal the championship.
The title continues a strong run of form for the Indian duo, who played a key role in India’s bronze-medal finish at the Thomas and Uber Cup in May and reached the Thailand Open final earlier this month.
“It feels special. We have won a title after two years, and this week was memorable for us,” said Satwik after the victory.
