Mumbai, June 8, 2026: Captain Suryakumar Yadav led from the front with a sparkling unbeaten 72 as Triumph Knights MNE registered their first victory of the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League 2026, defeating MSC Maratha Royals by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
The foundation for the win was laid by pacer Sylvester Dsouza, who produced a sensational spell of 5/21 — the first five-wicket haul of the season and only the fifth in the tournament’s history. In a heartwarming gesture after the match, Suryakumar handed his Player of the Match award to Dsouza, acknowledging the bowler’s match-winning contribution.
Batting first, the Royals were bowled out for 152 in 19.5 overs despite useful knocks from Maxwell Swaminathan (36) and Chinmay Sutar (32). The pair revived the innings with a 64-run partnership, but the Royals suffered a late collapse, losing their remaining wickets for just 15 runs.
In reply, Triumph Knights lost two early wickets before Suryakumar and Nutan Goel took control. The duo added a match-winning 103-run stand for the third wicket. Goel scored an impressive 56, while Suryakumar smashed 72 not out off 36 balls, including 13 fours, guiding his side to victory with four overs to spare.
